BRIAN'S BLOG - To give or not to give, that is the question!

The envelope arrived with black lettering NSPCC. The appeal was for clothing, books and bric a brac. Reading the text gave the impression that any money raised would go to the NSPCC. Not so! The items would be sent to Eastern Europe for sale. Only a small amount of the money would go to the charity, the bulk to the commercial company running the operation. Two days later there was a similar envelope offering disabled children trips to Disney. If only these companies were open. Nowhere is it revealed who has benefited, nor what profit the commercial operation is making.

We collect for a non-profit making charity, which publishes its accounts each year. There are several charity shops in the area which will take items and sell them.
We have a responsibility for our money and possessions use it wisely
