Out of the Ordinary

Out of the Ordinary
Last Sunday we looked at Luke 5 1-11, Simon Peter was asked to go out on Lake Gennesaret and go fishing. Simon Peter was a seasoned fisherman he and his crew had already been fishing through the night and had caught nothing. Jesus (a Carpenter) made a request that could have been so easily rejected by men who in comparison were very knowledgeable and experienced, but against his better judgement Simon Peter obliged and as a result pulled in such a large catch of fish that the boats began to sink, for these men who had toiled all night this was out of the ordinary. At this point Simon Peter recognised that this man was more than just a Carpenter and teacher; he was the Son of God. Jesus Christ had once again broken into the normality of human life and proformed a miracle. For each of us Jesus offers us the opportunity to let him in and allow him to do the extraordinary within our ordinary lives – the question has to be when will now be the right time to let him in?.
